Weaving Studies & Tapestries (2023-ongoing)

Various materials

My weaving practice revolves around experimentation, with each piece functioning as a sketch. Working on frame and backstrap looms, I create small-scale tapestries that develop intuitively, following the materials' colors, textures, and rhythms. I dye yarn in small batches, carefully mixing colors, but that's the extent of planning. Compositions emerge in the moment. The process becomes my space for exploration, testing techniques and weave structures, combining unexpected materials, discovering forms that honor intuition and the Latin American textile traditions that shape my work. Recent pieces push further into the textile possibilities of found and synthetic materials, expanding what weaving can hold and express. These experiments capture my relationship with weaving as its own language, where making becomes an ongoing dialogue with the past and present of Latin American crafts.
